Trenton, NJ- Merchants' Bank $2 Nov. 20, 1861 G4a Wait 2343 PMG Very Fine 25.A superbly styled $2 note printed by the National Bank Note Company with green frames, protectors and devices. Winfield Scott dominates the center, flanked by large green "2" protectors. An oval wharf scene is at left and diademed mother with child at lower right. The frame has micro-numerals around like the other denominations. A fully issued note and bright, with the appearance of a higher grade. PMG mentions pinholes. PMG also calls this piece $3 on the holder, but it is clearly a $2 note.
