Description

Niles, OH- James Ward & Co. 50¢; $1; $2; $5 Post Notes 1873-74 Very Good-Fine or Better.
James Ward formed an industrial empire of sorts in Ohio based upon iron works and allied businesses. The conglomerate collapsed in 1874 thanks to the Panic of 1873 and its aftermath, causing great loss to holders of notes such as these that were, incidentally, payable at the First National Bank of Warren (Charter 74). All four notes are fully issued and repair-free. (Total: 4 notes)
