F(rancis) E. Spinner Four-Page Report Dated Aug. 25, 1846-Aug. 27, 1846 Not Graded.
Future Treasurer of the United States and the "father of Postage and Fractional Currency" Francis E. Spinner was appointed auditor and deputy naval officer in charge of the Port of New York in 1845. He served four years in that capacity. These pages are reports concerning his official duties. They are entirely handwritten by Spinner using his three-nibbed pen that gave his name its distinctive "flair." The usual folds are observed and there are splits at both top and bottom center.
