Description

Danville, PA- W.H. Hassenplug / Cash and Exchange Store "100" Apr. 1853 Vlack UNL Hoober UNL PMG Very Fine 25.
While there is minimal direct information about this issuer, it is clear that he was running a mercantile establishment that dealt in a wide range of product lines including dry goods, groceries, hardware, and clothing items. The exact dates of operation are not known at present but probably extend from the early 1850s into the 1860s. The note has a patriotic eagle and flag view at center flanked by a vignette of Ceres standing in a niche at left and another of the Pennsylvania coat of arms at right. A pleasant repair-free example with no meaningful impairments that as a bonus is quite rare as well. We are unaware of any other examples at present.
