Description

Cazenovia, NY- (Cazenovia) Commercial College Bank / C.N.Y.C. Seminary $1; $5; $10; $50 1873-74 Very Fine or Better.
This institution traces its origins to 1824 when it was created as the Seminary of the Genesee Conference. Through the years it operated under several different names including the Central New York Conference Seminary (C.N.Y.C. Seminary as shown on these notes). The school continued to evolve its name and mission and finally was forced to close in 2023 due to financial pressures. The notes are fully issued, with somewhat faint signatures, dates, and serial numbers and have a common central vignette of hunting dogs running down a stag. Side vignettes vary, including an eagle and flag, dog lying on a safe, passenger train, saddled horse, and American flag. Each note has green text on the back describing the school and its offerings. (Total: 4 notes)
