Description

Falls Village, CT- Iron Bank $5 18__ Haxby Unlisted Remainder PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
The Iron Bank was incorporated in 1847 and remained open until its shareholders organized the National Iron Bank in 1865, charter 1214. The $5 denomination is particularly intriguing because of the many central vignettes used. Our current offering features a depiction of two iron workers at center, a portrait of a thoughtful Benjamin Franklin at right, and another iron laborer at left. A red tint covers the face. This piece is unlisted in the Haxby reference because it is engraved by the ABNCo., not Toppan, Carpenter & Co.
