Description

Reading, PA- Allen Bechtel 10¢ Oct. 31, 1862
We have seldom been able to offer any scrip from this broker who bought "gold, silver and U.S. Demand notes." Allen Bechtel's office was located on Walnut Street between 5th and 6th Streets. The notes were printed by T. Sinclair at 311 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia. Mr. Bechtel was born in 1812 and shot himself to death in November 1876. He was said to have been "temporarily insane" at the time. Very Good with pinholes and paper clip rust. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
