Choice Uncirulated $10 Morris Silver Certificate

Fr. 288 $10 1880 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
A strikingly handsome example of this 1880 "Blackback" Silver Certificate. PMG has noted "Portrait Restoration" which we are utterly unable to spot. The portrait is of Robert Morris, one of the Founding Fathers and the man who was largely responsible for the early financial health of our fledgling nation. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence from Pennsylvania, and the Superintendent of Finance (what would become Treasurer) for the United States from 1781 through 1784. In the proud political tradition that continues to this day, he wound up in jail. His case established the bankruptcy laws which sprang him from lockup after a lengthy stay in debtors' prison. A tough type in all grades, and particularly so at this level.
