Fr. 63a $5 1863 Legal Tender PMG Gem Uncirculated 65
EPQ.The strictly original paper on this note is as bright as any we have ever seen on this series. The ink colors are also absolutely perfect. Opportunities to acquire Gem examples of this sought after Friedberg are few and far between, in part due to the difficulty of obtaining an EPQ designation which is quite difficult for these early Legal Tenders. Last September, we sold a equivalently graded PMG example for over $8,000.
