Description

Friedberg 1012a - One of Four Known

Fr. 1012a $50 1914 Red Seal Federal Reserve Note PMG Very Fine 25.
This offering is a very attractive example of a major $50 FRN rarity that is one of just four pieces reported for this Friedberg number. One is a low grade note, while the other two known examples are right around the grade of this $50. It last crossed the auction block in the super-heated market of 2009 where it fetched a strong $19,550. While we do not expect that realization tonight, this Boston Red Seal, which features bright paper and a bold red overprint, is still rare and appealing enough to bring a solid four-figure price.
