Fr. 844 $5 1914 Federal Reserve Note PCGS Superb Gem New
68PPQ.The plate letter A Boston $5 with serial number A5048389A in this lot is well preserved with full margins, excellent face to back registration, ideal color, and serial number embossing. It last crossed the auction block in 2014 and realized $19,975. At that time, it was the only PCGS 68 or higher graded $5 1914 FRN Blue Seal. Also, the PMG Population Report does not list a Fr. 844 above the grade of 67 EPQ. Additional sleuthing uncovers the fact that the highest graded PCGS Banknote example is a solitary 66 PPQ note. In conclusion, our current Fr. 844 offering is the single finest known across the three major grading services of PCGS, PMG, and PCGS Banknote.
