Low Serial Number H48 Fr. 254 $2 1899 Silver Certificate PMG Gem
Uncirculated 66 EPQ.The Fr. 254 bearing the Napier-Thompson signature combination is by far the scarcest of the 1899 $2 Silvers, with Fr. 258's outnumbering them by a ratio of over 30 to one. Even fewer pieces would be known were it not for a couple of small runs of Uncirculated low serial number notes. This is a beautiful, well margined piece with bold ink colors and embossing. Last on the market in our 2015 Central States auction where it realized over $7,000, it is further enhanced by low two-digit serial number H48.
