Description

High Grade 1886 Hancock Deuce

Fr. 242 $2 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
This brilliantly colored Hancock Deuce comes from one of the two serial number runs that has supplied generations of collectors with high grade examples of this pretty type. While Hancock is no longer as well remembered as many of the other Civil War generals, he played an extremely important role, particularly on the third day of Gettysburg. This well margined example, which was merely called "Choice" in its last auction appearance in 1991, features blazing ink colors and fully original surfaces. It is certainly the equal of the PMG 66 EPQ example that we offered in our last FUN auction which fetched $8,400.
