Fr. 162 $50 1880 Legal Tender PMG Very Fine 25.Fr. 162 is a very scarce sleeper number, with a census of only 26 examples in all grades. It is easily overshadowed by the similar appearing Fr. 164, with over 250 pieces known. Neither service has graded an Uncirculated note. This offering is about in the middle range of the grades reported. Last on the market in a 2009 auction, this well margined piece faces up quite nicely for the grade, even with PMG commenting about minor repairs. Last year, we offered a repaired PMG Very Fine 30 note which fetched $6,000.
