Well Preserved $50 1928 Gold
Fr. 2404 $50 1928 Gold Certificate. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66
EPQ.A well preserved $50 Gold with full margins, white paper, ideal color, and paper originality. Our consignor acquired this example in 2014. That was the only documented auction this note had participated in until now. It was in a PCGS 66PPQ holder at the time, but it has since been crossed over into a PMG 66 EPQ holder. The five figure winning bid for Fr. 2404 in the grade of 66 EPQ/PPQ did not first occur in our auctions until January 2023 when a piece realized $15,600. The last $50 Golds in 66 EPQ/PPQ that we auctioned were in 2024. That year saw two examples in our auctions receive winning bids of $15,600 and $16,800. Those results are not surprising as PMG has graded only five higher, each by a single grade point.
