Ex-Eliasberg Tombstone $10
Fr. 292 $10 1886 Silver Certificate PMG About Uncirculated
50.The $10 Silver in this lot has had two long time owners dating back many years. Our consignor acquired it from the 1997 auction of the Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr. Collection as it was lot 3207 with serial number B685333 listed in the description. It is also stated in that auction catalogue that Mr. Eliasberg's notes have been off the market for decades, if not a half a century. Eliasberg is best known for putting together the only complete collection of United States coins ever assembled by the standards of the first half of the 20th century. The note in this lot is a tougher Tombstone Friedberg number with Track & Price listing 91 serials and that figure includes tonight's offering, which has seen very little circulation, but has had its edges trimmed. The PMG Population Report lists only four examples graded higher.
