Description

Fr. 242 $2 1886 Silver Certificate PCGS Banknote Choice Unc 64 PPQ.
A note from a run of similarly graded notes, this example first appeared in the collecting community that we know about on a dealer's price list in 1976. The portrait is of General Winfield Scott Hancock. He was named after War of 1812 General Winfield Scott. Hancock would go on to serve in General Winfield Scott's army during the Mexican-American War. General Hancock's identical twin brother was named after Hilary Baker, a Pennsylvania politician, who was mayor of Philadelphia from 1796-98.
