Peshtigo, WI - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The Peshtigo National Bank Ch. # 5658 PMG Choice About Unc 58.A lovely note which is one of a trio of examples from the same sheet that surfaced several years ago. This northern Wisconsin community was at the epicenter of the "Peshtigo Fire," which consumed about 1.5 million acres, destroyed numerous towns and villages, and killed 1,200 to 2,500 people, making it the deadliest fire in American history. In an incredible coincidence, the fire occurred on the same day as the Great Chicago Fire.
