Description

Attractive A12 $20 Treasury Note

Low Serial Number A12 Fr. 372 $20 1890 Treasury Note PCGS About New 50.
The earliest appearance of this attractive low serial number A12, plate letter D, $20 Treasury Note was in 1996 and it last traded hands in 2012. Extremely low serial numbers A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, and A8 are also known. However, three of those six notes are beyond the reach of collectors. Serial A6 is locked away in the ANA Museum, A7 is held by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and A8 is part of the collection of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. The most recent appearance by the other remaining extremely low serial numbers was when serial A4 grading PMG 40 was auctioned by us in April 2021 for $28,800. The only handling that we can find through the third party holder on our current offering are small corner folds. All bidders should be prepared to exceed our estimate as this Fr. 372 possesses the combination of both a low serial number and a much better Friedberg number.
