Description

Port Richmond, NY- The Staten Island Bank $1 July 28, 1841G2
One of the very most important New York City notes to be offered in the last decade. Until this specimen from the Slabaugh collection surfaced, the only known example from here was a $1000 Proof example that was sold many years ago. No issued examples were even rumored to exist, and the bank's entire issue, other than the aforementioned Proof, was listed as SENC in Haxby. While no beauty, grading only Good-Very Good, with a few small pieces missing at the right, expect some spirited competition before the hammer falls on this rarity tonight.
