Description

High Grade Fall River Brown Back

Fall River, MA - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 467 The National Union Bank Ch. # 1288 PMG Choice About Unc 58.
An excessively rare Fall River bank that issued First and Second Charter notes only before liquidating in 1903. Fall River, in its heyday in the Nineteenth Century, would be the host to eight note issuing national banks, with the National Union being the seventh to receive a charter. Tonight's offering is just the sixth note to be reported and what an addition to the census as it is not only the first Brown Back to surface, but it is easily the finest note to be reported. It is a drop-dead gorgeous $5 that appears to have rolled off the press this morning. This pen signed beauty features vibrant color and no evidence of circulation whatsoever. This is a great note for the Massachusetts specialist, or anyone who appreciates pretty Nationals.
