Very Rare Royalton Red Seal Serial Number 1
Royalton, MN - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The First NB
Ch. # (M)6731When this note was offered as part of the Melamed collection in 2010, it was unique, a survivor from a one-bank town. The bank issued large size notes, 1902 Red Seals and Blue Seals from 1903 until it went into receivership in 1926. Since Melamed another note appeared, a 1902 $20 Plain Back has shown up. This piece is the more highly desirable in every aspect as the higher of the two in terms of condition, the serial number one, and the Red Seal. The condition is most pleasing for a Very Fine, with bright paper and a cherry red overprint. PMG Very Fine 30.
