Description

Broken Bow, NE - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 477 The Custer National Bank Ch. # 5995 PMG Very Fine 30.
Bearing one of the more colorful (and ironic) names to be found on a National Bank Note, this earlier note represents a rather scarce bank. Barely a dozen examples are listed in the census for this short-lived institution that closed its doors in 1916. That scant total includes this pretty $5 Brown Back which is one of the finer survivors with great color, solid paper, and dark pen signatures.
