Lincoln, IL - $50 1882 Brown Back Fr. 515 The First National Bank Ch. # (M)2126 PMG Very Fine 20.
A bank that was organized on July 29, 1873, and liquidated on January 6, 1923. There are only five $50 Brown Backs listed in Track & Price for this charter number. The National Bank Note Census has enumerated 365 $50 Brown Backs for the entire nation, with 48 of those hailing from the land of Lincoln. It was penned signed by Cashier Frank Hoblit and Vice President J(ames) Hoblit. The latter would later hold the office of president for this Logan County bank that had at least three members of the Hoblit family working there through the years. There are many pinholes observed on this example. Minor rust is also observed.
