Rare Iuka, MS Note - One of Three Reported
Iuka, MS - $20 1902 Date Back Fr. 646 The First National Bank
Ch. # (S)10154 PCGS Apparent Extremely Fine 40.This great note hails from a very rare northern Mississippi bank. It is one of just three pieces reported, all three of which we have now been privileged to offer in the past five years. It comes from Iuka's only National Bank, an institution which was in business for a mere three years before bowing out in early 1915 after issuing what can charitably be described as "pocket change." This $20 is the finest of the three as the other two known notes are both housed in PMG Very Fine 25 holders. It displays bright paper and bold ink colors with just some paper scuffing in the President's signature area. Two years ago, we auctioned one of the PMG 25-graded notes from here for $4,500.
