Nantucket, MA - $5 Original Fr. 397b The Pacific National Bank Ch. # 714 PMG Very Fine 30.This very attractive Original Series $5 from this always-in-demand island bank has great color and lovely pen signatures. It also represents the variety with the charter number overprinted in red--a practice that began in 1874, thanks to an Act of Congress, to aid in the redemption of notes. An old friend that was last on the market in our 2000 FUN auction, this example does have the typical New England trim, but retains plenty of eye appeal.
