Saint Louis, MO - $50 1902 Red Seal Fr. 664 The Third National
Bank Ch. # (M)170 PMG Very Fine 25.This pleasing mid-grade example represents one of the toughest types of Nationals to find, with the latest count in the National Currency Foundation census standing at just 108 examples from all banks in the country combined. Tracing its provenance to our inaugural auction of November 1990, it is one of only 13 $50 Red Seals reported for all Missouri charters, nine of which are from this major St. Louis bank. It is a crisp, moderately circulated note that still displays a bold red overprint and dark printed signatures. PMG has noted a few flecks of paper clip rust in the bottom margin which truly affect nothing on this pretty note.
