Description

Unique for the Bank

Andover, NY - $10 1929 Ty. 2 The Andover National Bank Ch. # 13909 PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ.
A great New York rarity, this is the sole example reported from this late-chartering Allegany County bank. The Burrows National Bank originally opened in this small Southern Tier community in 1906, but it was forced to liquidate in 1933 during the Great Depression and was succeeded by the Andover National. The latter institution then issued just a handful of Type 2 $10s and $20s before the end of the National Bank Note era in 1935. Publicly offered for the first time, this $10 is a real beauty with bold ink colors, solid embossing, and just a couple of light folds. It should generate serious bidding interest from the collectors seeking to complete a set of small size Nationals from the Empire State.
