Griffin Corners, NY - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 600 The First
National Bank Ch. # (E)8847 PMG Very Fine 30.An extremely rare note from this Delaware County hamlet of some 350 people which no longer exists under this name, the community having changed its name to Fleischmanns in 1929. Only five notes are known from Griffin Corners including this example which we first offered in our Sabis Collection auction in 2003 where it sold for $11,500. While that realization may seem high, this pretty $5 is the finest of the five known and we did sell another note in a PMG Very Fine 25 holder in 2017 for $4,230.
