Third Reported Note

Sandusky, OH - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The Commercial National Bank Ch. # (M)6455 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
This is just the third reported note from this very rare northern Ohio bank and the first to appear at public sale since 2009. This bank issued Third Charter notes only between 1902 and 1922 and, prior to this evening, just two examples were in the census, both $5 Red Seals and both rather circulated. That all changes with the surfacing of this pretty $10 Red Seal that saw just light circulation and which features blazing ink colors and dark printed signatures. There are a few flecks of paper clip rust on the back which likely account for the note's survival today, but they are not at all distracting.
