Rare Vicksburg Red Seal
Vicksburg, MS - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 587 The American National
Bank Ch. # (S)6121 PMG Extremely Fine 40.A great Mississippi rarity that hails from a short-lived charter that was only in business for eight years before closing in 1910. This bank is represented in the census only by a quartet of Red Seals. However, of that number, only two pieces have been publicly offered in the past 20 years. Likely the finest known of that quartet, this attractive $5 saw only limited circulation and retains a bold red overprint and clear pen signatures. A few minor stains have been noted by PMG, but detract very little on this very tough Mississippi note.
