Description

Very Rare Petaluma National Gold Bank Note

Petaluma, CA - $10 1875 Fr. 1150 The First National Gold Bank Ch. # 2193 PCGS Banknote Choice Fine 15 Details.
From one of the scarcest of the National Gold Banks, this is one of just six Petaluma 1875 $10 National Gold Bank Notes known. It bears two digit serial number 38, one of the lowest numbers recorded from this rare and popular western institution. As is typical of National Gold Bank Notes, this offering was subjected to heavy circulation as this class of notes was indeed "good as gold," but thanks to multiple repairs and parts of the design being redrawn, it presents a decent overall appearance with the all-important gold coin vignette remaining quite bold. This example also has edge splits and the paper is toned.
