Fr. 1244 10¢ Second Issue Entire Back Inverted PCGS About New 50.When we first sold this piece, it was Lot 16167 of our 2005 O'Mara sale. We described it there: "Listed as reported but unverified at the time of Tom's article. He located and acquired the piece at some point during the last few years. The note is fully uncirculated but aged around the edges and with a few age spots internally. Unique to our best knowledge, this is an extremely significant invert. Besides being unique for its number, it is one of only three verified Second Issue notes of any number or denomination with both the back engraving and surcharge inverted. There are two Fr. 1318's known, and several other numbers with a single piece reported but unverified." As far as we have been able to ascertain, this note remains unique. When we last sold it in January of 2016, it realized $1,380.
