Description

Santa Paula, CA - $20 1882 Brown Back Fr. 498 The First National Bank Ch. # (P)4120 PMG Very Fine 20.
An extremely scarce note, this piece hails from a Ventura County bank which issued Brown Backs and Blue Seals only before liquidating in 1924. This was the sole bank in the then agricultural community. The institution had only a limited issue, particularly of Brown Backs. Three Brown Backs are reported, a single $5, a $10, and a lone $20, with this example being the $20. It's easily the nicest of the trio, and is well margined with nice color and plenty of eye appeal for the grade.
