Exceptional Title-Vignette-Condition Rarity
Salisbury, MA- Powow River Bank $10 July 2, 1851 MA-1135 G26
W-MA-2990-010-G130 PMG Very Fine 20.An Obsolete note rarity that takes itself to an elite level due by multi-dimensional attributes. To start, it is a great title from a very well collected state. Its immense rarity is confirmed as unpublished in both Haxby and Whitman. Adding more layers is its riveting layout and style. At the upper left, a wide sweeping view of The Presentation of Declaration of Independence engraved by the New England Bank Note Co. Lower right corner with train at depot. Red TEN Protector. Unique to our knowledge and it was acquired privately fifteen years ago for a significant sum from Tom Denly. The paltry issued notes from the bank we know of or have handled are low grade. This prize is part of a specialized collection of "Presentation" vignetted notes assiduously formed across three decades. We offer several from the collection today and will continue to catalog notes from it during 2025. It is perhaps the toughest "Presentation" vignette-imprint type based on the consignor's experience and we concur as catalogers. Crisp and bright, the cut quite "New England" in execution, but evenly so. Beautifully penned throughout its serial no. "4" bold. It stands high on its own, but in the context of that cited advanced collection it hails from, it shines brightest.
