Description

Near-Superb Example from the Scarcest of the 1896 $5 Silver Certificates

Fr. 270 $5 1896 Silver Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
A pristine example with great color, bright paper, original paper surfaces, and excellent centering, this note also attracts the bidders by bearing the scarcest signature combination for this issue and denomination - Lyons-Roberts. This the first appearance of this Friedberg number in this grade in five years. This example is still only surpassed by one note in the PMG Population Report that grades one point higher. The last two examples of this note in this grade crossed the auction block for $25,850 and $28,200 in 2015. We fully expect this lovely example to test those levels.
