Description

Houston, TX- Republic of Texas $10 Dec. 1, 1837 Cr. H4 Medlar 31
This is only the fifth example of this Medlar number that we have been able to offer. This example is like the previous auction pieces, either having extensive repairs or needing them. The last example that we sold was in September 2007. That note was graded Fine with repairs and it brought $1380. Our current example also grades Fine with a missing upper left corner. It has been repaired with tape and the cut-out cancellation at left has been repaired with vintage materials. Two auditor's stamp cancellations are present at right and "Cancelled" has been penned across its face. The repairs are nicely done making this a very worthwhile piece of Texana.
