Rare Fort Fairfield NB 1929 $20 Type 1
Fort Fairfield, ME - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The Fort Fairfield NB Ch. # 4781An extremely rare bank from a small town in the far northern reaches of the Pine Tree State. The National Bank Note census shows just four examples, one large and three small, with two of the four, including the sole large example, having had no auction offerings whatever. Of the other two, we sold one in our inaugural CAA sale in 1990 that has never reappeared, and the second, the nicest of the group grading Very Fine, was last offered in 2008, when it fetched $4830. It would hardly come as a surprise to see a similar realization this evening for this new to the census PMG Very Fine 25 example.
