Fr. 50 $2 1880 Legal Tender PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.The consignor of record was a professional numismatist for years, earning access to original packs of notes from which he hand selected and purchased this note and others in this auction. Years later the third party grades have proved this professional right. PCGS has graded only 2 Fr. 50's at this level with nothing higher. As of November, this is the first 66PPQ to have reached the auction block. It is a great looking note that clearly has earned its way into the 66PPQ holder. These large brown seal 1880 Legals all have great eye-appeal which at this grade level is considerably enhanced.
