Quincy, IL - $5 Original Fr. 397 The Merchants & Farmers NB Ch. # 703
A second excessively rare Quincy note, with this bank, which went out in 1872, having only two examples recorded in the census. This is by far the nicer of the pair, having been graded Apparent Very Fine 30 by PCGS. The Apparent grade was assigned because of a few tiny repaired edge splits, which are truly meaningless on a note of this rarity.
