Description

Rare Wills Point, Texas Note

Wills Point, TX - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 632 The First NB Ch. # 5018
Strong penned signatures of Cashier J.H. Human and President J.C. Lybrand are seen on this rare Van Zandt County bank note. This is the only large size example on this institution that we have been able to offer since our auctions commenced in 1990. Charter number 5018 was able to avoid the leading Texas collectors through the years and that includes Philpott/Moody, Everson, Irish, Ivy, and the Lone Star Collection, among others. This $10 faces up as a full VF, though an ink erosion repair in Lybrand's bold signature and a small edge tear that does not reach the frame line at right center account for the Apparent grade modifier. Nonetheless, it is a great Texas National Bank Note worth whatever it takes to bring it home tonight. PCGS Apparent Fine 15.
