Description
Bristol, TN - $10 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 13640The original First National Bank of Bristol was chartered in 1874 and was liquidated just two years later. In 1882, the National Bank of Bristol opened, and in 1904, it changed its name to the First National, only to be liquidated by 1932. A Great Depression era bank that was the third to open its door in the town in late 1932 and carried on the seemingly unlucky name. An example from that bank bearing Charter number 13640 is represented in brilliant Gem form here. In 2007, we offered this note, the finest to appear auction at the time, and since. It realized over $1000 and will likely do the same again now that a third party grading service has confirmed our Gem grade. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ.
