Description

HB-162 EP-83 5¢ Kirkpatrick & Gault Choice About New.
This 5¢ denomination is the most common of the Kirkpatrick & Gault pieces rated R-3 by Reed, indicating 41 to 50 known. The outstanding feature of this otherwise ordinary encasement is its incredible grade. The silvering on the back is virtually 100% complete and there are traces of silvering on the face tabs. The stamp is fully fresh and the mica crystal clear under most viewing angles. There are some imperfections in the mica when it is turned in the light and save for that trifle, this would be the finest Kirkpatrick & Gault we have ever handled. It is head and shoulders above both of the pieces in Frederick Mayer's collection.
