    Original 1942 Malaya 50 Dollars

Malaya Board of Commissioners of Currency 50 Dollars 1.1.1942 Pick 14
A stellar large size note in dark blue on multicolor featuring the portrait of KGVI on the right. They seldom come any nicer than this. The border-less open field design with ample white space makes it difficult to hide any imperfections, and this note stands up to the highest scrutiny. The creamy white paper is free of any defects including foxing, soiling, graffiti, rubbing, pressing, or thins that normally accompany circulated examples. Even the fully embossed serial numbers and date are fully retained. There are some folds and light handling marks, but none of the typical soiling along the fold lines. The companion $100 note (Pick 15) of comparable grade sold in our auction last April for $6,462, and this $50 might come close to that result. PCGS Very Fine 35PPQ.
