    Description

Rare British Colonial Gilbert and Ellice Islands £1

Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony £1 1.1.1942 Pick 5
A very rare type issued as an emergency effort by the British administration during World War II. We last handled an example like this in 2005, where a Fine note sold for $5,750. This note with its much better embossed seal is expected to bring more, but will keep a lower estimate for the benefit of collectors. PCGS Apparent Extremely Fine 40, small tear.
