    Extremely Rare Type from the First "Markka" Series

    Finland Finlands Bank 1 Markka 1861 Pick A32Ad PMG Very Fine 25.
    Beginning in 1860, the Finlands Bank began replacing banknotes denominated in Rubles with Markka. Offered here is the final date of the initial denomination within the new Markka series. Notice both Finnish and Russian text on both sides of this banknote. At the time of cataloging, it is the only example graded in the PMG Population Report. It is the first 1861 1 Markka offered in public auction. Minor tears are mentioned, but otherwise, the clean paper and bright colors are welcoming, especially considering the amazing rarity of this type. Missing from many collections, this is truly an exciting banknote offering.
