Ethiopia Bank of Abyssinia 100 Thalers 19__ Pick 4cts Color Trial Specimen PMG Choice About Unc 58;"WT & Co / (1919)" Watermarked Paper.
A vignette of an elephant is at right on this Color Trial Specimen that is brown instead of the slate blue color that was used for issued notes. The back of this uniface example displays deep embossing of much of the lettering and "Specimen" has been perforated at lower left. The printer's annotations are a small pencilled "61" in the upper left corner. The PMG label also tells us that this Pick 4cts was previously mounted. It has been almost five years since a Pick 4cts was last available at auction that we know about. Included with this lot is an ungraded "WT & Co / (1919)" sheet of watermarked paper measuring approximately 7.75 by 4.25 inches.
