    Description

    Rare £100 1906 Egyptian Specimen

Egypt National Bank of Egypt £100 17.7.1906 Pick 6s2 Specimen
A charming Specimen that is an example of the second most valued Egyptian note according to the Krause reference at $32,500. The highest valued note at $35,000 is a Pick 6s3 that shares the same design as this note, but has a different issue date. Our current offering was printed by Bradbury Wilkinson and depicts the Philae Temple which had been a favorite tourist destination for Victorian-era Britain. This specimen was an unsigned regular issue note with dual serial number G/530001 G/535000 that was perforated "Cancelled" at back lower center. The right serial number for this design is always 4999 more than the left serial number. This piece has retained its color after more than a century and the margins are wide with a paper guide line marker present in the upper left corner. The back reveals the all-important natural paper wave that collectors seek. It was once previously mounted, which is a fate that has been reserved for many Specimens over the years, and should not deter serious bidders one iota. PMG Uncirculated 61.
