Stunning Specimen from the 1920 Series

East Africa East African Currency Board 100 Florins = 10 Pounds 1.5.1920 Pick 12As Specimen PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.
Incredible paper originality and vivid inking are evident on both sides of this impressive banknote. As the second highest denomination of the series, print totals were small. Additionally, this Florin denominated series was ill-fated from the start, as East Africa replaced the Florin with a new "Shillings" currency line in late 1921. Only a few Specimen are extant of this denomination. In fact, this exact Specimen is the plate note in Owen Linzmayer's East Africa chapter of The Banknote Book. Only a perforated cancellation and printer notations are mentioned on the holder of this stunning Thomas de la Rue creation. Iconic and extremely rare.
