China Ming Dynasty 1 Kuan ND (1368-1399) Pick AA10, Smith & Matravers T36-20
A very attractive example graded PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25, with the apparent grade due to the minor edge tear in the lower left corner. This very early paper note displays exceptional eye appeal with well preserved paper, nice margins, and bold color. It is certainly one of the loveliest examples we have seen and many bidders will no doubt be competing to take it home. There has been a marked increase in interest in these notes in recent years and the prices have risen dramatically, partially due to an expanded collector base. In many cases, prices realized in late 2011 by various auction houses were approximately double that of the results from 2010 sales. Recent sales of notes in comparable grades have brought $20,000 or more and we have no reason to expect this note to fare any differently in 2012. A wonderful note destined to be part of a great collection.
